They've been dating for almost a year and a half now. I miss that. I miss having a girlfriend, someone to love, someone to care for. Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to jump into a relationship just to be in a relationship, but I want to be able to care for someone, to love someone, to have a girl by my side. There is a grand misconception that getting girls at college is easier, for they are everywhere and no parents around...
Friends just came in and complained about Hersh's views on the Talking Heads. I wouldn't know. This was immediately followed by gay sex (or so I think) in my roommate's bed, with my roommate crying. Oh college, how I love thee. And now my crying roommate left the room.
...But the process of actually getting girls is complicated if you have standards. If all I wanted was sex, that would be easy. The sex is nice and definitely a must, but I want something more as well, I want a girlfriend. That in itself is much, much more difficult. I have met only a few girls worth the effort that is needed, and that isn't going swimmingly yet. (Although it is better that my roommate's predicament. Another story for another day.) As of now, though, I am lonely. Not a bitter lonely, just a sad and reserved lonely. All I want is a great girl to care for and love.
At least my roommate made it back alive and unviolated.
I saw Quarantine earlier today. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. For the first time in a long time I was genuinely frightened watching a movie. Though it did start a bit slow, it compensated by finishing with a terrifying 30-45 minutes. And it didn't suffer from the usual American horror downfall of the overly corny ending; all questions were answered (for the most part) and plot elements tied up. Quarantine also skillfully utilized the same camera effect as Cloverfield earlier in the year, though not with the same effectiveness. Cloverfield, for the most part, used the "hand-held camera" effect as a plot device, and much of the suspense and terror came from the camera effect. Quarantine didn't use the effect as a story element as much, but more along the lines as a filming style. Overall, I would give the movie a 7/10, and I recommend seeing it at some point.
